Welcome to the first episode of the Food, Family & Fellowship podcast!! I'm so excited to share this episode where I got to chat with my sister Monique! For those of you who don't know her already, she's a couple years older than me, married to Ryan (a roofie) and has 3 children aged 5, 3 and 4mo (at the time of recording... which was a while ago now!). She shares about her favourite recipes (including some yummy gluten free ones!), activities she enjoys with her family and how life with a new baby has affected things like cleaning and hospitality. Laugh along with us as we take lots of tangents and speak way faster than we should (oops). If you haven't already, listen along!
Below you can find a list of all the recipes and items we mentioned. Scroll to the bottom for recipe downloads.
Family Activities:
Playing 'Threes' (card game)
Camping
Shooting/hunting
Saturday markets
Recipes:
Pasta - creamy & tomatoey, made with homemade sauce from roasted veg
https://www.ambitiouskitchen.com/homemade-spaghetti-os/
Monique adds meat to cook in the sauce and uses any leftover veg from the fridge for the sauce (red capsicum is a must though!)
Prep tip: make sauce ahead in bulk and freeze in batches
Stuffed Potatoes - perfect for bringing to potlucks and just as good cold!
Buckwheat blueberry pancakes (GF)
Cooking tip: cook on a sandwich press! Non-stick, flat and cooks slower so you can multitask while cooking without the risk of burning.
Date Loaf
Hack: Instead of a loaf, make them into muffins! They'll cook faster and are easy to grab-and-go
Twist: substitute some of the cinnamon for allspice
Speculaas biscuits
Chia pudding (GF)
Prep tip: make ahead the night before for school lunches
